POSTCAST: Wild Hang On to beat Blackhawks 4-2

The Minnesota Wild started strong and hung on to beat Chicago 4-2 on Sunday. The Wild improved to 29-17-4 and 18-5-3 on the road, but had to weather a late surge by Chicago for most of the 3rd period. The Wild held Chicago to just 5 shots on goal through the first 2 periods of the game as they scored 3 times on goals from Jared Spurgeon, Freddy Gaudreau and Joel Eriksson Ek. But Chicago scored 2 times in the first 5 minutes of the 3rd to cut the lead to 3-2. Marcus Foligno scored an empty net goal to seal the win. The Wild went 1-3 on the Power Play and 2-3 on the Penalty Kill. Filip Gustavsson stopped 18 of 20 shots in net for the Wild to pick up his first win in his last 5 games. The Wild continue their road trip with a game Wednesday at Toronto.
