Locked on Wild PREGAME: Wild Start Road Trip against New York Islanders!

On today's Pregame Preview edition of Locked on Wild, we preview tonight's game against the New York Islanders! We start by discussing the news that Jared Spurgeon will be on the road trip and look at who should come out of the lineup when he returns. The reality of the situation is that Dakota Mermis is playing well enough that he deserves the opportunity to stick on the 3rd pairing with Calen Addison. Mermis contributes more on both offense and defense than Jon Merrill does, and if the Wild are comfortable playing Daemon Hunt there really isn't a reason to go back to Merrill. We move to Marco Rossi, and look at where he ranks among other Calder Trophy hopefuls. We look at what has led to his strong start, and why if he continues to get to the net, there is no reason he can't be a 20 goal scorer. We finish with the Keys to the Game for tonight's matchup against the Islanders, which are:

1. Get the Power Play on track. (I'm feeling a good Power Play performance tonight, the 5 forward group looked good!)


2. A strong performance from Marc-Andre Fleury. (Fleury building off of what he did Saturday would go a LONG WAY)


3. Follow the lead of the top line. (Let's see a breakout performance from Boldy-Rossi-Kaprizov!)
