Brandon Ingram is a Toronto Raptor! Is it worth the risk? | Trade Reaction

The Toronto Raptors have acquired Brandon Ingram from the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynyk, the Pacers 2026 first-round pick and a 2031 second-round pick. In Episode 1801, Sean Woodley goes solo to spill his many thoughts on the trade, which certainly bring some upside if Ingram is able to adapt his game to fit around Scottie Barnes, and if he can stay healthy, but bring a lot of potential for things to go wrong and set back the Scottie Barnes era to a possibly irreparable degree. Off the top, Sean runs through the rationale of the trade, why the deal doesn't mean the Raptors are suddenly about to push for the play-in tournament, the closed loop on the Pascal Siakam trade and the reasons why the trade make sense -- if you believe in Ingram as a player... Next, Sean runs through the ways in which this works. If Ingram can adapt under new coaach Darko Rajakovic, there's a world in which the Raptors' collection of pretty good players turns into a team that's better than the sum of its parts; and some lottery luck in June would go a long way to making this whole thing more viable. Lastly, Sean outlines the ways in which this goes off the rails, from the money Ingram could potentially make, the injury history that makes him high-risk as a high-priced piece, and the potential for this to be a Rudy Gay / Jermaine O'Neal level mess if things don't break right.
