Brisbane’s Aidan Hobbs is arguably the king of Brisbane and QLD running. He has been on the competitive scene for the last 15 years and in this time has managed to win the Brisbane Marathon in 2008, place in several major fun runs and officially hold the most parkrun course records across Australia from any runner. More importantly, it’s the side of Aidan you don’t see until you actually converse with him. Working in public health, he seamlessly acknowledges the concept of something like parkrun being much bigger than himself, describing it as very much about the community and its significant benefits on the physical and mental health of all involved. Although a competitive person by nature, this enjoyment and participation based attitude is also evident in his long standing history and tradition at the City 2 Surf fun run in Sydney, attending the event consecutively over the last 27years, wearing his notorious superman costume. An Intraining and master’s athlete, Aidan has so much to share about his experience in running, the highs and lows and the stories that have made him the person and runner he is today.
