We’re getting a lesson in romantics on today’s episode with Derek Sanders from Mayday Parade.
Since their formation in 2005, Mayday Parade has become one of the best-selling and well-recognized emo bands of all-time. Their debut album “A Lesson in Romantics” is certified gold, and the lead single, “Jamie All Over,” has been named on the list of 100 Best Pop-Punk Songs of all time by Rock Sound. The band is celebrating their 20th anniversary this year with the release of a triple-LP “Sweet” and an accompanying world tour.
Derek joins us to discuss 20 years of the band, being kicked off VANs Warped Tour (before they ever joined it), the ballad-to-banger balance when making a Mayday Parade record, sustaining his body and voice on the road, Third Eye Blind, and more.
