The Season Two premiere of “Load-In Through the Back” features a conversation with singer/songwriter and frontman of iconic ‘90s rock outfit Toad the Wet Sprocket: Glen Phillips.
With over 3.5 million records sold, and amassing a half-dozen Top 20 Hits, Toad the Wet Sprocket is widely regarded as one of the most successful alternative rock bands of all-time. Forging a fruitful solo career after the band announced an indefinite hiatus in 1997 (don’t worry, they’re back, y’all), Glen Phillips has released five critically acclaimed records under his own name.
Glen joins us to discuss 35 years in the music industry after writing early songs by necessity, his love of RATT and disco, the vulnerability of songwriting, Randyland, and how Toad the Wet Sprocket has somehow perfectly etched their legacy in the gray area of RUSH and the Replacements.
