This week we are going to talk about 3 do’s and don’ts that will help people and their new Black businesses and people on the road to starting their new businesses.

Remember, if we are going to Live Our Best Life In Afrika, we have to focus on utilising our 6:00-9:00 (down time) to making new money, so we can buy ourselves out of our plantation job or be able to positon ourselves to have the life we choose rather than the life we feel trapped in.  As I said, to do this, we have to focus on making new money.  Why, because if we had the money, we would have made the right moves by now!

When I speak to Afrikan descent people about why they have not taken the plunge to start the thing that enables them to believe they can free themselves, what comes across all the time is the fears we use to hold ourselves back.

The major fear that comes up is the fear of not being good enough, or the fear of not doing enough to succeed, the fear that your plans will not or cannot work, the fear of not knowing where to start, the fear that you are not doing it right or the fear that no one will be interested in your thing.

We stop thinking about what we need to do to start that ‘thing’ we have always wanted to do, to start that business or build that business – and before we know it, another year has gone past and we are back to trying to inspire ourselves with new year’s resolutions to make the year count this time!  Except those resolutions are founded on old, dead habits.

Instead, I want us to change our mindset and tell ourselves that everyone can start something and everyone is an entrepreneur in the making.  I want us to believe that if we have ever had a dream to live our best life in Afrika (remember that metaphor for living the life of our dreams in the sun), then we are the entrepreneur that will make it happen because we are going to show up to plan to build our business and that makes us and our dreams legitimate.

To help us, we look at three things we should not do, that might interfere with our plans.  We then end by looking at three things we can all do to help build our success as we start that journey of building our businesses:

I hope you enjoy the session.  Let us know what you think by posting a review of the show.  I would love to hear from you.
