Daniel chapter 9 splits into two parts. First, we read about Daniel’s prayer for his people. He steps into the position of intercessor for the Jewish people, asking God for His mercy despite Israel’s sins. It wasn’t because of anyone’s righteousness, but because of God’s goodness and so God could receive the glory.
 
The second part of the chapter is an incredibly precise angelic visitation that has provided us with information on what will take place on earth before Jesus returns a second time.
