For episode 123 our host Mikas is making a downtempo song with a triphop flavour. We begin from scratch setting up Logic Pro X BPM to 85 and the refresh rate to 48000KHZ.
We begin from absolute scratch programming some drums, first the kick drum and snare and then we expand to create a proper downtempo groove. Once we have enough elements we move on to record the Bass part, we lay down some keys and record the MIDI to the sequencer. We engineer it to the song and add a second layer of sub bass to the mix.
We then record a pad that adds a great amount of dimension to our song. We then double the pad MIDI and add a layer on a different frequency. We then create a simple chord from our key and use it to trigger an arpeggiator that will take its place in the mid lows.
