Since it's National Day, we thought we'd look back to the year when all began: 1965.
Singapore has split from the Malaysian Federation amid uncertainty about what lies ahead. But what is certain is that the local music scene never looked brighter. The success of groups like The Crescendos and The Quests has inspired many singers and musicians to come forth. Shirley Nair, Veronica Young, Naomi & The Boys, The Cyclones, The Checkmates, The Silver Strings, The Trailers, The Thunderbirds, The Angels, The Teen Comets, The Dukes, the list is seemingly endless.
In Part 1, Kevin and Chris see what was happening in that pivotal year: Who were "The Big Three" of the music scene? Why was The Rolling Stones concert at the Singapore Badminton Hall such a big deal? And who really put the bop in the bop-shoo-bop-shoo-bop?
