God said to Jonah, “Go to Nineveh, the big city. Preach against it. The evil of Nineveh has come to my attention.” But Jonah ran away from God. He headed for Tarshish. So he went down to Joppa and found a ship going to Tarshish. He paid for the trip and went down into the ship. He wanted to go to Tarshish, away from God.
