A little about our guest – Chance grew up in Smyrna, Georgia, and attended Stetson University where he played football and graduated with his Bachelors degree in Communication and Media Studies. Upon graduation, Chance knew that he wanted to see the world and what better way to do that than combining his love of travel and teaching. After looking at his options, Chance boarded a plan and landed in Beijing, China. The experience started out exactly how Chance had imagined (getting to experience culture, diversity, new foods, new language, new students, new friends). Unfortunately, things would soon be different. Much different. Chance’s worst nightmare was about to come true. Chance would spend his next 14 days being locked up in a Beijing jail cell with no idea of how long he would remain locked up or for that matter, if anyone even knew he was missing.
What would any teacher/athlete/spiritual being do…self-reflect and find a way to turn a difficult situation into a transformative experience. Chance decided to take a chance and write his first book “14 days in Beijing” and has followed that book up with a second – You Love and You Learn. Chance – Welcome to the Show!
TOTD – “Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired, and success achieved.” Helen Keller
