In this episode, I sat down with Brett Connellen (or as he is affectionately known as to some, SHARKBOY), a surfer from Australia who survived a terrifying bull shark attack in 2016.
In 2016, Brett was surfing at a beach near Kiama in New South Wales when a shark suddenly attacked him, biting his leg and causing severe injuries. Despite losing a large amount of blood, Brett managed to fight off the shark with the help of his mate Joel, make his way back to shore where he was treated by his friends until the paramedics arrived and he was airlifted to hospital.
Thanks to the quick thinking of the medical team and his own determination to survive, Brett was able to make a remarkable recovery and return to surfing just a few months later.
Brett has now recently released his documentary which features scenes of the aftermath of the attack, his recovery and his biggest challenge yet, paddling the 54KM's from Molokai to Oahu.
"Attacking Life" is a moving portrait of one man's remarkable strength in the face of adversity. Available now, exclusively on STAN.
