In First Corinthians, Paul teaches that without love, even the most impressive spiritual gifts amount to nothing. While the Corinthians were operating in powerful spiritual abilities, they missed the foundation of everything - love. God's definition of love is action-oriented: patient, kind, not self-seeking, and keeping no record of wrongs. Unlike spiritual gifts which are given, love is a fruit that grows as we remain connected to Jesus. True love involves healthy boundaries and self-sacrifice for others' highest good, not just making people happy. While spiritual gifts are temporary, love is eternal - it's the only thing we bring with us to heaven.
