Whoever said that as a leader we shouldn't let people get too close to us or see our difficulties or weaknesses didn't know what they were talking about.
I've been in relationship with God in a real way for over 50 years and a significant number of those years I've had the pain and the pleasure of being a leader.
I was once told by a professor in seminary to not let "my congregation members" get too close to me and to never share things that pertained to my personal struggles.
I was told it would cause people to lose confidence in my leadership abilities.
That advice was garbage.
In fact, it almost the exact opposite.
By sharing our process of being made pure it gives other people hope in knowing that they are alone.
We are in this walk of Life together.
I am a leader because I just so happen to be a good follower.
Not because I've arrived and I now have all the answers to the problems.
We are in this together!!!
