Luke chapter 5 begins with Jesus calling His first disciples after a miraculous catch of fish, showing His power and inviting them to become “fishers of men.” He then heals a man with leprosy, demonstrating compassion and authority over disease. Crowds gather as Jesus continues to heal and teach, but He often withdraws to pray in solitude. A paralyzed man is lowered through a roof, and Jesus not only heals him but also forgives his sins, revealing His divine authority. The chapter ends with Jesus calling Levi (Matthew), dining with sinners, and explaining that He came to call the lost, not the righteous.
