In the Slovak lesson, you’re going to learn more words from my "Summer vocabulary" and practice it together with the past tense in a short dialogue. You will also learn how to say “We went…” in Slovak, for example: “We went to the lake”.

Slovak lesson
1.     prázdniny (school vacation, school recess)
2.     hrať futbal (play football/soccer)
3.     volejbal (volleyball)
4.     tenis (tennis)
5.     plávať (to swim)
6.     surfovať (to surf)
7.     jazero (lake)
8.     zátoka (bay)
9.     čln (boat)
10. člnkovať sa (boating) on a lake
11. Išli sme k jazeru. (We went to the lake.)

Short conversation:

D: Ahoj, mami. (Hi, mom.)
M: Ahoj, konečne ste doma. (Hello, finally you [pl.] are home.)
D: Ja som, ale Tono ešte ostal s kamarátmi. ( I am, but Tony is still [stayed] with friends.)
M: Ale veď už je skoro osem hodín. (But it is almost eight o’clock.)
D: Povedal, že nebude dlho. (He said that he won’t be long.)
M: Čo má zase na pláne? (What is his plan again?)
 D: Neviem, nepovedal mi. (I don’t know, he didn’t tell me.)
M: Dúfam, že príde domov skôr ako otec. (I hope that he will come home sooner than father.
D: A kde je otec? (And where is father?)
M: Išiel na pivo. Čo ste dnes robili? (He went for a beer. What did you do today?)
D: Išli sme k jazeru. Najprv sme trochu plávali v zátoke a potom sme sa chceli člnkovať, ale všetky člny boli požičané. Tak som išla hrať volejbal a Tono išiel surfovať. (We went to the lake. First we swam a little bit in the bay and then we wanted to go boating but all of the boats were taken. (Lit.borrowed). So I went to play volleyball and Tony went surfing.)
