一月的英文 January，源自羅馬的神雅努斯（Janus）。
這位神有兩張臉，一張臉面向前方一張臉面向後方，一張用來看未來，另一張臉則看過去。也因此一年的第一個月份，一月，January，也由他的名字來命名，代表著看著已經過去的一年，以及未來即將迎來的新年。
