Join us for an insightful audio narration of the Southeast Asia region's reflection on the 40 themes from the Lausanne State of the Great Commission Report. In this episode, we will explore the major challenges and opportunities facing the Christian church in Southeast Asia, a diverse and rapidly developing region.

In this episode, we will cover several key topics that are shaping the Great Commission in the Southeast Asian context:

  • Family and Discipleship: The report highlights the importance of parental involvement in discipleship. We will discuss the challenge faced by many first-generation Christian parents who lack a model to follow and the need for churches to provide resources and mentoring to strengthen family-based discipleship.

  • The Role of Women: Despite increased educational and professional opportunities, gender prejudice persists in many parts of the region. The report calls for concrete steps to address these biases and highlights the vital role women play in the Great Commission.

  • Rapid Digitalization: We will explore how the church is navigating the challenges and opportunities of the digital age. Southeast Asia has the world's fastest-growing internet market, and the church must find innovative ways to engage with people online while also addressing issues like consumerism and prosperity teaching that can be amplified by technology.

  • Mental Health: The report notes that mental health is often a taboo subject in the region. We will discuss the need for the church to seriously engage with this topic and provide holistic care to its members and communities.

The report concludes that a multi-dimensional Gospel is needed to address the complex challenges in the region, such as consumerism, religious persecution, migration, and human trafficking. The Church in Southeast Asia contributes to global missions by demonstrating resilience in the face of persecution and by its passion and commitment to social justice and action.

Some other important topics we will touch on include broader societal issues like migration, human trafficking, and climate change.

Tune in and be inspired to advance the global mission together.
