Join us for an insightful audio narration of the Eurasia region's reflection on the 40 themes from the Lausanne State of the Great Commission Report. In this episode, we will explore the major challenges and opportunities for evangelical Christians in Eurasia, a diverse region that has undergone significant geopolitical and demographic changes.

In this episode, we will cover several key topics that are shaping the Great Commission in the Eurasian context:

  • A polycentric approach to mission: The report highlights the need to move away from a model where Moscow was the primary hub for mission. Instead, the focus is now on empowering a new generation of indigenous Christian leaders, particularly in Muslim-majority areas, as a new wave of hope for the region.

  • The issue of trust: Trust has become a major challenge in Eurasia, where many locals perceive evangelicalism as a "Western" import. This has led to a lack of trust in churches as social institutions, and we will discuss how to build authentic relationships and credibility within the community.

  • "Liquid communities" and relational networks: With fluid migration patterns and a lack of trust in physical institutions, the report suggests a move towards "liquid communities." This concept emphasizes adaptability and flexibility, focusing on relational networks rather than traditional church buildings to reach people.

  • A holistic understanding of mission: The report notes that many evangelical communities in Eurasia have a narrow, dualistic understanding of their mission, often neglecting social justice and well-being. We will discuss the importance of a more holistic approach that addresses prevalent issues like corruption and inequality.

The report also highlights the resilience of the Christian communities in Eurasia, who, despite significant challenges, are actively and creatively engaging with the Gospel. The rise of indigenous leaders and a polycentric approach to mission are significant contributions to global missions from this region.

Some other important topics we will touch on include the new opportunities for ministry presented by the digital age, while also warning of the dangers of polarization and the loss of genuine fellowship.

Tune in and be inspired to advance the global mission together.
