Spencer Averick is an American film editor and producer, renowned for his collaborations with director Ava DuVernay. He edited the critically acclaimed films Middle of Nowhere (2012) and Selma (2014). Averick also produced and edited the documentary 13th (2016), earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary Feature. His other notable works include editing A Wrinkle in Time (2018) and the series Queen Sugar. Averick graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in film. He is married to Elisabeth Kiernan Averick, a writer and producer for The Simpsons.
