Season 2 Ep 27 - MICHELLE HOPKINS - Have Hope

Meet Michelle Hopkins!  A very special teenager and artist battling a rare disease called MPS 1 but also battling to help find a cure for hers and other rare diseases.  MPS I (Hurler syndrome or mucopolysaccharidosis type 1) is a metabolic disorder caused by mutated genes on chromosome 4 that result in deficient lysosomal enzymes. The syndrome usually is diagnosed in young infants (3-6 months of age).

February 28th is Rare Disease Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness of the many rare diseases that affect people we know. Imagine being diagnosed with a rare disease for which it is often difficult to find specialized care and that many people may not have even heard about.
