Do you ever just feel really low? Like…God has abandoned me, my friends don’t love me anymore. That kind of feeling?
We all do at some point. But not only has God not abandoned you, He has great things in store for you.
Psalm 23:5 says, “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.”
In ancient Israel, when God selected a new king for His people, a priest anointed the person with oil, then prayed. Oil from a clay pitcher would be poured over the chosen one’s head. A new king!
David the shepherd boy was dissed by the people, even by his whole family. They thought a young guy was no match for the Philistine army, but as usual, God saw the real person. That’s how it works, you know.
David had the last laugh. He saved his people from an army of giants. He visited the camp, saw what was happening, and decided he could kill the enemy. His legend began that day.
Others mock you, but they only see the surface. God sees the heart. He sees what you were, are, and what you will become.
The world treats you like dirt? God treats you like a king.
Let’s pray.
Lord, we face giant problems every day. Without your help, we’d sink. Thank you for holding us up. Amen.
