Someone has said that the entire Bible is really all about just one person.
Jesus.
We learn in the New Testament that He has eternal mercy and love for each of us. In the Old Testament, He is on every page. Remember the mysterious man seen in the fiery furnace with Daniel’s three friends?
Jesus is everywhere, all the time. He is with you on the mountain when you feel awesome. He is also there with you in the dark valley, when you think you won’t live to see daylight. He is the true definition of this week’s series, “Friend.”
Proverbs 17:17 says, “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.”
Life can be a bumpy ride. Turbulence on a plane isn’t fun. Turbulence in life is worse, because sometimes it feels like it will never end.
Enter your best friend.
Jesus tells us over and over in Scripture that He won’t leave us. Sometimes it is a direct phrase. Other times He tells us in the stories recalling His love and passion for helping people live abundant lives.
If you are really in need of a friend that will be there in the toughest time, like right now as you listen, tell Jesus that very thing.
The weight will lift off your shoulders.
Let’s pray.
Lord, you are our good, good Father. Your promises never fail. We are filled with gratitude to you, our ultimate Friend. Amen.
