7 tips to protect your Child from emotional trauma:
- Create emotional safety – Show your child they are loved unconditionally, no matter what happens.
- Validate their feelings – Instead of dismissing or minimizing their emotions, acknowledge them. Let them know it's okay to feel what they feel.
- Be mindful of your words – Words have power. Avoid using harsh, judgmental language that could make them feel unworthy.
- Listen actively – Give them your full attention. Let them know their voice matters.
- Set healthy boundaries – Children need boundaries, but they must feel that these boundaries come from a place of love and respect, not control.
- Model emotional regulation – Show your child how to manage emotions calmly and peacefully. You are their first role model.
- Be patient and forgiving with yourself – As a parent, you will make mistakes. That’s okay. What matters is that you learn from them and grow with your child."
