Every true child of God is filled with God's Spirit.  Having His Spirit in us will have an impact upon our behavior where we are now acting upon what the Holy Spirit is instructing us to do.  "Works" means actions.  And believers are compelled to act in a manner that glorifies God even when it's embarrassing, difficult, scary, awkward etc.  We know what we must do so we do it despite what our feelings are telling us.  This not only reveals to others our sincerity toward God but also gives us confidence in our relationship with God as we step our in faith.
