Jeremiah had a tough calling from God.  He was responsible for telling a rebellious, proud nation that judgment for their wickedness was coming.  The religious leaders and other rulers didn't want to hear it but Jeremiah couldn't contain the words that God put in his heart.  So he suffered at their hands but through the suffering the hand of God was continually upon him.
