The word "fruit" in the New Testament is often applied to the actions of a person.  As a tree naturally produces fruit so too a person naturally produces things in their own life.  Looking at the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, the things produced by God's presence in us should be evident to everyone around us.  This is referred to as the "fruit of the Spirit."
