Weather in 5 on a hot day from NYC southward. Highs could get close to 100 in parts of Maryland and Northeast Virginia. Meanwhile a weak frontal boundary lies across NYC and Northeastern Pennsylvania and there is a marginal risk of severe weather this aftenroon and evening. Thunderstorms are forecast. The July 4th weekend in the Eastern US overall looks summery with no major issues. It will be a bit cooler Saturday and then very warm to hot Sunday and Monday. No major storms are impacting the US today and the tropics are quiet.
