0ver 110 million people are currently living in refugee camps, spending an average of 17 years there. KLABU are an organization that are using sport to and instigate positive change.
KLABU are one part NGO and one part clothing brand, as their funky shirts are used to generate an income for their wider charitable work to remain possible.
Based in Amsterdam, they have set up ’clubhouses’ in some of the world’s largest refugee camps, bringing comfort, electricity, education, and community to their inhabitants. Their USP is sport, and their belief that sport can provide people with the catalyst to improve their wider situation.
We invited Alexander Webb, KLABU's Program Director to our studio to tell us all about it. He was a friend of Arne’s at university, and has gone on to do amazing things with this fantastic organization.
We hope that you enjoy our third episode!
