Hey Friends!
We are in full swing of Mother’s Day season! For Many, this can be joyful and fun and for others, this can be painful and life sucking. We get it- we have been on both sides of the pendulum and support you right where you are at!
This episode is mostly positive and encouraging, but also filled with some validation if you are struggling to be a supportive mother and/or you do not have one yourself. In this episode Helene & Christina dive in with talking about ways that you can be supportive if you have older children or a daughter in law. It also talks about ways to support your children living in your home now.
Christina gets real and shares an example of where she was not supportive and had to go back and apologize, needing grace. She also opens up about what an incredibly supportive mother in law she was given. Here is a teaser alert- she shares about how her mother in law never talked behind her children’s backs to another child. Such a Gift!
Helene shares about how she has learned and evolved throughout the years in her practice of teaching parents how to be supportive. She opens up about how her son was “doing it wrong” in her eyes as an adult and how he was able to gently correct her, which she knew she needed. She realized in that moment that she had created a safe space for her son to be real and call her out AND that she needed to step back and allow him to figure things out.
This episode is all about the gifts of mothering, whether it be validating who you are, sharing with someone else who is rocking it or a gentle reminder of ways we can all do better at this most difficult and honorable job!
With love,
H&C
