Molly Britt opens up about her journey to sobriety as a twenty-something. Molly discovered she had a negative relationship with alcohol when she realized that her relationships and what she valued was being negatively impacted by her drinking habits. Through therapy and recalling her relationship with alcohol, she was diagnosed with a mild substance disorder and in May of 2020 she decided to stop drinking alcohol.

Molly is not anti-alcohol, she believes that if people can handle alcohol, they should be able to consume it. However, she wants to just explore all concepts that come up when you start taking a deeper look at your relationship with alcohol and how it affects your life - both positive and negative. She also wants to start normalizing sobriety and take away the stereotypical image of someone who decides to get sober (like a 40 year old male in a mid life crisis that was waking up and couldn't make it through the day without alcohol).

Through this conversation we talk openly about drinking culture, societal pressures, and being sober curious. College culture creates this idealogy that we need to get drunk to have fun and if we don't, we aren't fun. This pressure happens post-college and in many aspects of our lives.

Molly's vulnerability is opening up the conversation and normalizing sobriety at all ages. She wants people to know that they aren't alone and your journey is based on your happiness.

We also talk about...

  • Positive and negative relationships with alochol
  • Drinking culture
  • Societal pressures
  • Approaching social situations when sober
  • Prohibition
  • Blacking out
  • Sober curious
