The time is now 01:00 AM in New York, I'm Noa Levi and this is the latest Israel Today: Ongoing War Report.

The current situation in Israel and the surrounding region remains tense and complex. Overnight, Israeli rescue teams successfully carried out a rescue operation near Nahal Tekoah in the Judean Desert, rescuing a 30-year-old American tourist from Jerusalem who fell into a five-meter-deep pit while on a night hike. The rescue involved coordinated efforts between Israeli rescue units, fire brigades, and medical teams, who provided initial treatment at the scene and transported the injured man to a hospital with moderate injuries, primarily to his lower body and spine.

Meanwhile, Israeli military forces reported intercepting a drone that crossed from Egypt into Israeli territory in the Faran sector. The drone was found to be carrying 19 firearms, including pistols and machine guns, along with ammunition. The drone was shot down by Israeli forces, and the weapons were secured for further investigation.

On the broader security front, Israeli military intelligence detected and thwarted an attempt to smuggle weapons from Egypt into Israel. The ongoing conflict in Gaza continues to escalate, with reports from Palestinian sources indicating that fifty people have been killed since dawn in recent Israeli strikes. This marks a significant intensification of hostilities in the region, with the Israeli military conducting widespread airstrikes targeting militant infrastructure and command centers.

In the Gaza Strip, humanitarian supplies are being dispatched. A convoy of trucks carrying wheat has been seen heading toward Gaza as part of the government’s efforts to deliver humanitarian aid amid ongoing fighting. However, the situation remains dire, with continued Israeli military operations and Palestinian casualties mounting.

Internationally, the United States has announced the cancellation of $60 million in federal grants to Harvard University, citing concerns over the institution’s handling of anti-Semitic harassment and racial discrimination. Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts to negotiate the release of hostages held by Palestinian militants are ongoing. A notable development is the statement from former Trump envoy Adam Bohler, who expressed optimism that progress is being made, attributing part of the recent movement in negotiations to Israel’s military actions in the field.

In addition, there are rising tensions in the northern port city of Haifa, where enemies threaten to strike the port region. Israel’s military and intelligence agencies remain on high alert as they monitor potential threats, including Iranian-backed groups and Houthi rebels in Yemen, who have issued warnings about potential attacks on Israeli infrastructure, including Haifa’s port.

The weather today is partly cloudy to clear, with temperatures slightly cooler than previous days, especially in the highlands and inland areas. Winds are blowing from the southwest to northwest at 15-30 kilometers per hour across the Mediterranean Sea, which is experiencing high waves of up to 1.60 meters, making maritime conditions challenging.

Looking ahead, the forecast indicates a mild decrease in temperatures across the country, providing some relief from the recent heat. Cities such as Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Eilat will see daytime temperatures in the mid-20s to low 30s Celsius, with cooler nights expected.

As the conflict continues to dominate headlines, diplomatic efforts remain focused on securing the release of hostages, while Israel prepares for possible further military actions. The region remains in a state of heightened alert, with international actors closely...
