I recently listened to a podcast with Jim Kwik and brain scientist, Dr. Lisa Mosconi, who wrote the book called “The XX Brain” and she was talking about women’s brain health and how different female brains are from male brains and how vitally important it is for women to get on board with taking care of their brains. This is news to me! I thought I'd share what I learned and my take-aways with you on today's episode!
Dr. Mosconi researches how brain health plays out differently in women and in men. We have different responders. Medicine has been historically gender biased towards men and symptoms are vastly different in women and men, but treatment is often seen just one way. Treatment has been historically done based just on men’s health. Women’s health has been confined to the reproductive organs and not the whole body- especially brain health.
She has a system of 8 pillars (actionable items) of preventing Alzheimer's disease…she uses the Latin expression- MENSSANA (Healthy Mind) CORPORASSANA (Healthy Body) to define the 8 things from which to choose to begin your healthy brain journey...
How many of these things do you already do and which one(s) could you better or begin?
