Episode Four of Ironblood opens in the war room, where Virelya, Briggum, and Belmont plot the movement of twelve riders into the Iron Borderlands. Something stirs in the mountains—something older than the bloodlines sworn to guard them. The Queen does not trust what moves in shadow, but even more so, she doesn’t trust what moves within her court.

While steel is sharpened at the borders, a different tension blooms in the capital.

When a madwoman screams prophecy in the town square—naming Zevir, the Queen’s watchful new shadow, as “the one with the sting”—a thread begins to unravel. Zevir’s mask slips. Virelya notices. And neither of them are prepared for what is seen behind the eyes.

As both the Queen and her assassin reel in private—each confronting the cracks in their control—another ghost emerges from the past: Calyndra, the Queen Mother.
