Hosts Atoya Burleson and Tia Avril are celebrating Tia's birthday on this week's episode of the insideLINES podcast! 

First, Atoya and Tia kick off the episode with highlights from their week! Tia celebrated her birthday over the course of three days ending it with a trip to an amazing Kendrick Lamar concert! Atoya had another weekend full of travel which included picking up her daughter, Mia after a 3 week stay at an overnight camp!  

Next up in “Hot Takes," Atoya and Tia discuss the civil lawsuit filed against former NFL Buffalo Bills rookie punter Matt Araiza. Matt was drafted in the 6th round of the 2022 NFL draft, but he was released over the weekend after he was accused of taking part in the gang-rape of a 17-year old girl at an off-campus party in October 2021 while at San Diego State University. The victim claims that Matt served her alcohol with what she believes had additional substances in it and, she also claims there were 2 other individuals involved. The ladies share their thoughts on if the Bills should have released Matt prior to any criminal charges being filed or resolution of the lawsuit.

Lastly, the ladies welcome the chief of staff at Essence and founder of the MBL Boutique Experience Agency, Barkue Tubman! Barkue chats with Atoya and Tia about how she got her start in entertainment, the importance of being able to pivot, and her year of humility. She also discusses the failure she’s most proud of and why she created The Boss Lady Effect, a nonprofit dedicated to creating and empowering a global community of powerful black and brown women.
