In 2015, 195 parties signed the Paris Agreement, committing to limit the global temperature increase to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels and to transform the global economy to be climate-friendly - a big challenge! Like many nations, Germany has a long way to go to meet these climate goals. According to the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) in Nuremberg, the shift to a green economy is expected to create numerous job opportunities, many of them are so-called "green jobs." That’s exactly what we’ll be talking about in this episode.

Our two guests are:

Jan Strohschein, the managing director of greenjobs.de, a job board focused on environmental roles in the German-speaking region. Jan brings extensive professional experience in renewable energy, environmental policy, and climate protection.

Alejandra Leal Vallejo, co-director of CENTRICO and based in Mexico City. Her organization specializes in public policy, sustainable mobility, and road safety. Alejandra’s career in environmental work began in Germany and has taken her back to Mexico, where she’s now working on transforming sustainable mobility.
