On this episode of Info On The Go, we’re heading to Connecticut — the 5th state to ratify the U.S. Constitution on January 9, 1788.

Its name comes from a Mohegan-Pequot word meaning “long tidal river,” referring to the mighty Connecticut River. For over 10,000 years, Native peoples thrived here, moving with the seasons, crafting tools from stone, and forming vibrant cultures.

From Dutch explorers and English settlers to fierce battles like the Pequot War and pivotal moments in the American Revolution, Connecticut’s story is one of resilience, innovation, and influence.

This state gave us the first submarine used in battle, the hamburger, PEZ, Polaroid cameras, and even the bouncing pickle law! With stunning fall foliage, the historic Yale University, and a legacy in manufacturing and aerospace, Connecticut has shaped America in more ways than one.

Let’s dive into the fascinating history, quirky facts, and bold beginnings of the Constitution State.

Thank You for listening and Stay curious,
