Transitioning into her true self with Jessica Platt

Jessica Platt, one of Jen's long time friends, is a professional hockey player and in 2016 became the first transgender woman to play for the CWHL. Jess and Jen share memories of living together during university, which was also the time of Jess' transition. Jess speaks on the difficulty of transitioning, from her family doctor who recommended her to a psychiatrist, to a doctor that finally listened to her. She touches on the lack of role models, specifically in sports, to guide her along the way. Jess reveals the importance of a proper support system by using Jen, her coaches, and team as examples. She talks about the continual advocacy towards transgender rights.
