Jayland Walker was killed in my hometown Akron, OH. Akron police fired 90 rounds landing 60 of those into his body. He was a 25-year-old Black man. Many details have yet to be released but here is a report from Akron Beacon Journal stating more facts of the horrific incident.
I don't know about you, but I needed to pause and reflect. I started interviews for my newest podcast inCOPnegro: Black & Blue 1 year ago. The last episode released in Season 1 (Episode 5 with City Councilman Shammas Malik) discussed how these types of events CAN and DO happen everywhere. With the recent murder of Jayland Walker, it really hits home for me given I'm raising my family in this city I hoped was safe.
