Today, we continue the conversation with “The Cornerman”: remember in the movie Rocky when trainer Micky is in the ring advising the man himself when his life is on the line? Micky had been in his corner for all the ups and downs of training and life so when the pivotal moment in the ring occurred, Rocky knew who to turn to for the most accurate and winning advise.  This is who Dr Jeff Spencer is for those who are at the top of their game and want to stay there.

Beginning in a welfare home in the United States; committing, at 10yrs old to attend the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich and then achieving it, finding movie producer John Burton as a father-figure & glassblowing artist mentor & later showing his work in NY Galleries; being recognized as International Chiropractor of the year; Winning Tour de France team Chiro & Mental Coach; and 45X Olympic, World, Tour de France, and National Championship Winner – this is no coach, this is no mentor, this is “the man you want in your corner” when you want to win and do it over and over again!

And just when you thought that his clients like Tiger Woods, U2 and Nike would challenge him, its been his daughter Kin who he adopted at 10yrs old from the gritty streets of Columbia who really call him and his wife to a higher game.

Years ago, I had the privilege of acting as Dr Jeff’s proxy-agent which allowed me to showcase his Champions Blueprint systems to the business community in Australia.  One of the key things he taught me during that short working relationship was something I still employ to great success to this day: ALWAYS respond to people on the spot (even if I don’t have the answer for them yet – just update them).  This may seem like a small thing but as I endeavored to get Dr Jeff on Australian soil and create sponsorship deals for him, there were many inquiries left open ended – rather than update him, I ignored messaging him bc I wanted to have some answers and clear guidance.  I felt like silence was better than saying “I don't know yet” or “the iron is in the fire but no response” but Dr Jeff taught me that no matter how busy you are, staying connected is the priority!  A huge lesson for me and one that has shifted the way I do business.

Ok my friend, you ready to crack past the start line and get this race underway…

Welcome to In the Game, a podcast where we aim to touch, move and inspire you to what's possible in life. My name is Sarah Maxwell and I am a self-proclaimed relationship engineer. With a degree in biopsychology representing my country of Canada in beach volleyball, retiring from sport into mindset and purpose coaching, I now spend my days running Chatta-box Media, where we aim to story-tell for brands through the medium of podcasting, all while raising an eight-year-old daughter with my partner of 24 years. We are now in season seven of this podcast, featuring a special series on women called who Knew that Was Work aimed at young women who want to broaden their horizon when it comes to career choosing.

Go deeper into the pod and discover incredible stories of changemakers who manifest their dream lives. Gain tangible tools to apply to your own life by scrolling back to that initial season where we were more workbook focused. Have a laugh when we initially were coined the Nat and Sarah show, when my five-time Olympian partner, natalie Cook, and I bantered and had loads of fun interviewing and discovering our common passion individuals who rise to the occasion in life. Okay, now it's time to dive on in to this episode.
