¡Bienvenidos! This week, we enter new territory with a special Spanglish episode featuring the “angels of outer space”, Los Abuelos—the charming grandparents of our beloved host, Gem. They steer the Mothership through their captivating story of seeking sanctuary in the Peruvian Embassy in Cuba during a time of political upheavel. Gem’s abuela enchants us with a heartfelt moment as she shares an original poema, penned straight from her corazón. Gem’s abuelo shocks us as he shares the single food item they survived on for 11 days. Los Abuelos guide us on a loving ride as they share how they overcame the prejudice they were taught to hold, and what they have learned in their collective 158 years of life. Bilingual word games, tongue twisters, tears, and abrazos are also boarding this flight. This one is destined to be truly especial.
