Do you tend to ignore your emotions and stuff them down? Do you fear feeling your emotions and numb them away? Or are you the kind of person that is emotional about everything? Maybe you don’t feel like others and you blame it on your personality. Did you know that allowing yourself to experience your God-given emotions is actually healthy self-care? This can lead to living a rich, satisfying, and successful life! Maybe someone in your past has made you feel like your emotions are too much. Sometimes we equate crying and emotions with weakness. Advertisers and speakers appeal to our emotions to persuade and manipulate our thinking. It can be confusing, and we don’t always know what to actually FEEL! God created us to have emotions. The key is to surrender our emotional selves to Jesus – He will lead us into emotional health. Unhealed hurts and unprocessed feelings will eventually show up in negative ways. Jesus wants to heal us, so let His compassion comfort, heal, and restore your emotions! Now we are not talking about emotionalism, where every tiny feeling needs pampering. We are talking about healthy emotional self-care that allows us to fully experience the life He has called us to. We have to allow His healing by having an open posture and being ready for Jesus to teach us about our own emotions. When practice proactively bringing our hearts to Jesus, we begin to recognize and experience joy! Jesus has come to give us an abundant life! And we want to honor the price He paid by not settling for a half-life—devoid of emotions and passion. We want the FULL spectrum of what he has for us! When we are healthy, we are able to share emotions with others! John 15:9 - “I love each of you with the same love that the Father loves me. You must continually let my love nourish your hearts.” Mark 12:30-31 - Love the Lord Yahweh, your God, with every passion of your heart, with all the energy of your being, with every thought that is within you, and with all of your strength. This is the great and supreme commandment.”
