What do you picture when you hear the word worship? Odds are it’s some form of singing to God at church! This is because often the way you choose to worship is through song. Did you know worship can be expressed by singing, shouting, clapping, raising our hands, dancing, giving thanks, writing a poem, drawing a picture, playing an instrument, or anything that outwardly displays your affection to God? The purpose of worship is to open Heaven's door, allowing you to intentionally connect your heart and personally engage in God’s presence. True worship is finding God in spirit and truth. In spirit, his presence is everywhere and you can access it any time. In truth, it has to do with the condition of your heart as you begin to worship him. A common misconception is that God likes being worshipped. But the truth is, He loves to be near you, and worshipping draws you closer to him. As a loving father, God embraces worship as the pathway to bring you closer to him because God is personal, interactive, and relational. In the personal presence of God, you will find encouragement, strength, transformation, enlightenment, refreshment, energy, relaxation, hope, power, and so much more! Worship isn’t limited to Sunday or church services. You can worship anywhere and anytime--day or night! God is ready and eager to draw near to you! You can worship anywhere! John 4:20-24 (NIV) - Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.” “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
