Igloocast - Vol 4: Ben Hinchliffe

Hailing from Leeds, Ben had no trouble in gaining access to world class electronic music with some of the country’s best clubs sitting right on his door step. Inevitably, Ben’s interest in dance music began around the age of 16 when he purchased his first pair of decks after been left inspired by his first trip to Ibiza where he was lucky enough to catch Steve Lawler in action. Once back in Leeds, Ben had caught the bug for House music & managed to see top DJ’s such as Hot Since 82, Darius Syrossian, Sante & Sidney Charles in his hometown despite his premature age of 17. These are the main influences that have shaped him to his current sound that you hear today.

Fast forward 8 months and you will find Ben’s first success when he was a finalist for Relentless Energy Drink’s DJ competition to play at Leeds festival. Fresh from this success, Ben began to get his first club bookings in Huddersfield & Halifax playing at some of their most reputable nights, all before the age of 18.

Ben’s first Leeds booking came in April 2016 at the world famous Mint Club in April 2016 playing under his own Brand Get Together, which was set up alongside Pedro Vila & Joe Burns. This Gave Ben an opportunity to play alongside some of the most respected DJ’s in the industry which has been invaluable to his musical education. Since then, Ben has gone one to play for reputable brands such as System & Set One Twenty & Circular where he has been on the billing supporting top artists such as Carl Craig, Huxley, wAFF, Praslea, Denney, Julian Perez & Dana Ruh.

Ben & his brand now hold residencies at the Mint Club & Bar 212 in Leeds where he has booked & played alongside names such as Secondcity, Audiojack, Pirupa, Doorly, System2, OC & Verde & more.

As 2016 draws to a close, we are looking to forward to seeing what already looks to be a big 2017 for Ben.
