Worker Gets 10 Months in Prison for Peeing on Food Products

Last Friday, 49-year-old Gregory Stanton was sentenced to 10 months in federal prison for urinating on a conveyor belt that carried cereal at the Kellog's plant in Memphis Tennessee. 

Charged with tampering with consumer products, Stanton was also ordered to pay $10,000 in restitution. 

Stanton worked as a contract worker at the food manufacturing plant in 2014. During his tenure, he made a video of himself urinating on a conveyor belt. The worst part is that he didn't post the video online until 2016, which means that the products likely made it onto the shelves. 

In December 2018, Stanton pleaded guilty to the consumer product tampering charges. He was facing up to three years in prison as well as a $250,000 fine. 

According to the AP, Stanton not only recorded himself micturating on the conveyor, but in April 2014 he also shot a video of himself urinating into a bucket and then dumping it into the Raisin Bran production line. The conveyor incident affected three popular brands as well: Rice Krispies Treats, Rice Krispies Cereal and Puffed Rice Cakes. 

The videos triggered an investigation by the Food & Drug Administration as well as local law enforcement.

In December, Kellogg’s told IEN that the company was ”pleased that the responsible individual was brought to justice.” 

Unfortunately, I’m once again  reminded of my Grandfather's old saying. Boy, quit peeing in a bucket and dumping it on the cereal.
