This week I sit down with Melanie Côté, an advertising copywriter, creative director, a proud parent and fierce advocate for individuals with intellectual disabilities like her daughter Alma.
We talk about her Now What moment of starting a non-profit social enterprise, which felt like an impossible idea to get off the ground and start.
It’s called Do Good Donuts, and it hires and trains young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to prepare them for jobs in the community.
Her goal is to change the way people think about employing people with ID/DD before her daughter, currently 8, is old enough to find a job she loves.
