In this conversation, Dr. Ellie and Dr. Ama Olson discuss the importance of holistic approaches in pediatric care, particularly focusing on scoliosis and other spinal disorders. They explore the role of awareness in healing, the unique challenges of treating children versus adults, and the effectiveness of the Schroth method in addressing spinal issues. The discussion emphasizes the significance of early intervention, collaboration among healthcare professionals, and the need for mental health support for young patients.
Ama Olson graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Spanish in 2007 from Berea College, KY and studied abroad and traveled in El Salvador, Ecuador and Spain during this time. After graduating from Berea, she lived in Hawaii for almost 10 years where she lived in an intentional community, taught aerial dance and yoga.
The time spent as a teacher inspired Ama to study physical therapy. In 2021, Ama received a Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Regis University in Denver, CO.
She currently has a YouTube channel bodyreset321 where she teaches Yoga Nidra or Non-Sleep Deep Rest practice as she believes a rest practice is the foundation for physical healing.
She received her certification in Physiotherapy Scoliosis Specific Exercises 1 from the Barcelona Scoliosis Physical Therapy School (BSPTS) based on the original Schroth Method which uses a 3-dimensional postural awareness and specific breathing techniques to improve spinal alignment and stability for young people who have scoliosis, hyperkyphosis and other spinal disorders
She believes that healing is a unique journey for each person, involving learning about and building a relationship with their body to actualize physical comfort and live more purposeful lives, and she is honored to assist in this process.
