Today's guest is Sandrine Monin, choreographer and founder of Unbound Dance Theatre. Sandrine's 2023 project Feathers, integrating visually impaired dancers led to an exploration of touch, and a realisation that the professional dance industry has often shown little consideration for consent and bodily autonomy. We explore this in conversation, and notice how work like hers is beginning to change the working culture in professional dance. Taking on these challenges and finding ways to work more consensually has been rewarding not only in terms of the healing and inclusion experienced by the dancers and participants but also in terms of the artistic excellence that has emerged from the process. There is lots to learn for dance and arts professionals, and there are huge parallels with all kinds of generational healing.
