Moo Deng, a viral baby pygmy hippopotamus from Thailand, has 'predicted' the winner of the 2024 US presidential election in a playful and viral stunt. At the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi province, zookeepers presented Moo Deng with two watermelons, each carved with the name of a candidate: Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. The baby hippo chose to eat the watermelon marked with Trump's name, which was captured in a video that quickly went viral on social media platforms.
Moo Deng, born in July 2024, has become an internet sensation due to her energetic and playful antics, which have been widely shared on platforms like TikTok and Instagram. Her popularity has significantly increased the zoo's attendance, with weekday visitors rising from around 800 to over 4,000 and weekend visitors surging from 3,000 to more than 10,000.
The prediction comes as the US presidential election is highly contested, with national polls showing Trump and Harris neck-and-neck. Despite the light-hearted nature of the prediction, it has garnered significant attention online and in the media.
